First Holy Communion – San Antonio, Eastbourne

Fr Marlon rang me in the last week of Term 3 and said that the Parish Pastoral Team had discussed First Communion at their monthly meeting. Due to the possibility that we might still be in Level 2 on the weekend of the 27/ 28 November and Mass numbers will still be limited to 100 people, a decision has been made to hold 3 separate First Communion Masses- 1 in Eastbourne on Saturday 27th November at 5.30pm and 2 on Sunday 28th November in Petone at 1pm and 3pm.

This means that the parishioners will still be able to attend the normal Masses and First Communion can go ahead. I have allocated your family a Mass time and I have tried where possible to keep families together. There will be no First Communion Breakfast or cup of tea afterwards this year. Children will receive a “Goody bag” instead of the breakfast.

We encourage the children to see this as a special celebration even though it is a bit different this year. We also feel that it is very important for the children to finish the programme this year as some of them have been waiting 2 years.
