Tokelau Community
The Tokelau community in the Wellington Archdiocese has a proud history spanning over 50 years. As the region with the largest Tokelau population in New Zealand and the world, we have families represented in the Porirua, Petone, Naenae, Taita, Wainuiomata and Upper Hutt Parishes.
Our Tokelau Chaplaincy provides a unique fusion of spiritual and cultural leadership through; an intergenerational Sunday school and youth programme, leading Mass services in the Tokelau language, inspiring the younger generation to learn Tokelau cultural arts, encouraging families to learn hymns, recite prayers and bible readings in the Tokelau language, we also promote the importance of participation and service across our church communities and are active parishioners.
Our vision of success is centred on nurturing the faith through positive family and cultural well-being and serving our parish communities from the heart.
Ke manuia koutou uma i te Alofa o te Atua – May God keep you all in his loving care.
